  • The Long Path flow cell provides an optical absorbance path of 500 mm. Despite the long path, the flow cell is designed to provide a relatively small dead volume of 220 uL. Wetted parts on the Long Path flow cell are Plexiglas┬«, PEEK, quartz and Viton┬«. The Long Path flow cell is useful for low-level measurements, the most typical application being nutrient measurements for oceanography research.

This flow cell requires special fiber optic cables where one end is a standard SMA905 connector, while the other end terminates in a 1/16 inch O.D. tube. Such cables are available as FIAlab P/N 15008.

    Part #

Ultra-Long Path Flow Cell - 50 cm optical path. Fittings and Tubing.   Internal volume ~ 0.1 ml.

Optical fiber, 600 Micron diameter, SMA terminated on one end and PEEK sheath termination on the other end. For making connections to the FIA-Z flow cells, ULP flow cells and LOV built-in flow cells.

Replacement Seal and Windows

You will need to clean your flow cell to preserve its longevity. We recommend cleaning it once every three months. Most of our customers, however, clean them every six months.

After each cleaning, it is necessary that you replace the Teflon seals. This will ensure a watertight seal. For the best optical performance, exchange the silica windows every half-year.

We supply these consumables in the SMA-WIN Kit (PN 79150). This packet includes two silica windows, six Teflon seals, and a scrubbing brush. A separate kit with two new SMA adapters also exists. This is the SMA-WIN-SS Kit (PN 79153).
